ENGLISH 11

This course will focus on preparing the student to write and communicate effectively in post high school endeavors. Writing assignments will include essays, literary analyses, and a research paper. Students also will read and analyze, from a Christian worldview, a chronological survey of American literature in a variety of genres. In addition, students will review strategies for answering the verbal questions on the SAT and ACT.

Assignments will be given a point value. To determine the class average, these points will be totaled and divided by the total number of points possible. Tests, projects, and essays are worth a possible 100 points each. The final research paper will be worth a possible 200 points. Classwork, quizzes, and homework are worth no more than a possible 50 points each.

Each day, opening exercises will be completed in a spiral or composition notebook. This notebook will be collected twice a quarter and will be worth a possible 100 points each time.
